Obama needs to learn that we really do enjoy being Americans and not Mexicans, which is exactly what’s going to happen if (1) we don’t close the Southern boarder and (2) we don’t stop drug war from entering into CA and TX. But…what does he care.
There is more pork in this “stimulus” bill than in almost any other bill in recent memory. From stop-smoking funding to save the whales, a HUGE percentage of the money goes to projects that have nothing to do with helping the country as much as they meet leftist desires. Acorn, the group of thiefs and liars who openly commit voter fraud, will also receive funds from this bill, which is of course, astonishing.
Kudos to the ACLU for working from Day 1 to hold Obama to his always rather briefly expressed promises to end torture, close Guantanamo, and revisit FISA. Since November 5, when they took out full-page ads quoting those promises (the first two, anyway), they’ve been in congratulations-we’re-waiting-for-action mode. Yesterday they sent an email to supporters linking to a segment of Obama’s recent 60 Minutes interview in which he reiterates those promises (again, without elaboration)
Parody on Star Wars and Obama. Kinda funny, a good watch.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, the U.S. and international media are convinced that Hillary Clinton will in fact become Barack Obama’s Secretary of State. One has to be careful with political guesswork, but I also think that it is a done deal. Since it became public that President-elect Obama has pretty much offered the job to Clinton and details of the vetting process have been reported, it is hard to imagine how Senator Clinton could not get the top foreign policy position. It would be a servere blow for Hillary supporters, Democratic party unity and Senator Clinton herself, if she didn’t get the job after all. The only imaginable scenario, in my opinion, is some kind of serious ethical issue that would compromise her ability to function as America’s top diplomat. - BBC
This weeks video review is basically a regurgitation of what we have known for quite a while. Still nothing very original but he is starting to come across as a tad more “presidential” than in previous addresses.
Obama’s buzz is off and running today. And although you hear non-stop that this is the sign that a persons race is no longer the reason to elect a leader, it’s really all the networks and blogs are talking about, not to mention the black community. Of course you cannot blame the black community for celebrating the results, it is a big deal for this country. But if it’s really not a ‘race’ issue then why do I have a feeling that this is all we will hear about for the next 4 years? And why do I get a sinking feeling that in 4 years, if President Obama runs again, and he happens to lose, that the media and also the black community itself will cry foul and will go back to loathing that the country has slipped back to being a racially divided country.
Barack Obama won easily today to claim the President Elect Obama title. McCain gave a very humble speech submitting to the win and marking the end of his race for President. Obama finished up in Chicago with his family along side him on stage. President Elect Obama will take office in early 2009.
